Reminisce and discover the restoration

Do you remember life at ‘The Dome’ years ago?  Ss Peter, Paul and St Philomena’s Church is making a short documentary film as part of its second Heritage Lottery Fund Project to restore the church. The church is collecting interesting stories about ‘life in the early days’ to record them digitally for posterity.  The film will become part of a new ‘Heritage Information Point’ in the porch of the church and also be screened on

The Duchy of Lancasters Representative visits Dome of Home

            On Friday 3rdOctober, Peter Woods, deputy Lord-Lieutenant, representing Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside, Dame Lorna EF Muirhead DBE, presented a cheque for£2,000 towards the restoration of the church. During a tour of the heritage and restoration works, Mr Woods commented, “The Duchy of Lancaster Major Grants Committee decided to award this grant because this building means so much to the people

Final Dome of Home Building work update

Hello Everyone Sadly this is the last Building work update as this phase of works is now complete. I hope I've been able to show you some of the works that you would not normally have been able to see. I've enjoyed doing it and I hope you have liked seeing the updates. The last update include views of the finished toilet including the new door and plastering around the new windows before the scaffold was removed and the finished but not painted

Building Works update 12th September 2014

Hi Everyone Lastest update on the Building works (12th September) The toilet is now having the final touches made to it, top coat of paint and all the accessories. The Windows are back and installed together with the arches, more bonding work has been done as well. Dont those windows look great. The final plastering was starting as I last visited so will update you in a few days as to its progress. The biggest news is the obvious the Roof is FINISHED

Building works Update 5th September

    Work has progressed outside quite fast and the roof was nearly finished when I went up. The toilet was also going great guns ans was nearly finished,those who visit the church frequently wouldhave seen this. The windows had been removed and away for refurishment and lots of bonding on the inner wallas and arches was in progress
